What is an RSS Feed?

An RSS feed is similar to an email system for the internet. Instead of having people send you messages which your email system collects for you, the RSS Feed Reader will gather information from different websites and collect it for you. Many websites from weather forecasts to blogs have RSS feeds so that you can know when the website has been updated. A podcast is a specific type of RSS feed that lets you know when new media (like a sermon recording) has been added to the website.

What is a Podcast?

A podcast is very similar to a broadcast, but instead of broadcasting sermons over the radio, we podcast them on the internet. Applications like iTunes will let you subscribe to a podcast and will automatically tell you when there are new sermons posted on our podcast. Then you can download those sermons and listen to them on your computer or mp3 player. It’s as if you could tell your radio to let you know when there was a new broadcast of “Prairie Home Companion” and tape it for you to listen to later.
