A Renewed Vision for a New Year:
Considering the Implications of the Incarnation of God.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made…. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
-John 1:1-3,14
Current Sermon Series
In this sermon series, we take a look at the meaning of what we celebrate in Christmas: The Incarnation of Christ. There are essentially three issues that must be kept in tension to remain within the biblical teaching on this subject:
- Fullness of Deity (Complete Divine Nature)
- Fullness of Humanity (Complete Human Nature)
- United in One Person, without mixing or diminishing the divine nature or human nature in any way
Join us as we discuss how the church has dealt with this issue, what views have been rejected, and how a proper view of the incarnation informs our perspective on:
- Care of the poor and suffering
- Care for the vulnerable at the beginning of life and at the end of life
- How one feels about one’s own body
- The value of human embodiment
- What it means to be “human”
- Living with an eternal perspective
- Your vocation
- The security of our salvation
- Help in temptation
- Sexual ethics
