"The Truth in Denial"
John 18:12-27

Leading up to Sunday's Sermon

Read the Passage

John 18:12-27

Reflect

  1. What might have led Peter to deny Jesus in this passage? Where/why could you see yourself doing the same?
  2. Why direct them to “ask those who have heard me what I said to them? Why not just answer Annas directly?

Respond

Suggested Prayer Prompts
  • Spend time thanking God for how He has provided for us despite our own weak faith.
  • Is there anywhere in your life that you can see yourself being ashamed of Jesus? Are there co-workers you feel compelled to share the Gospel with? Neighbors? Family or Friends? Pray that they would know Christ and that you would receive the strength and courage to share the Gospel.

After Sunday's Sermon

Review

Review John 18:12-27 and listen to sermon (if you have not done so already)

Reflect

Key Idea
It is easy to forget God's control, power, and love amid suffering, but God's steadfast love is resilient enough to reach us in the darkest places, so we should want to turn and see Him.
Questions for Consideration
  1. What might it look like to believe in God’s control, power, and love for you during something hard you or a loved one is going through right now?
  2. Part of the reason we are to share the Gospel is because in doing so we are reminded of the very same truths that we share with others. Plan for how you might be able to share some of the truth of the Gospel with someone in your life this week.

Respond

Suggested Prayer Prompts
  • Praise God the Father for His steadfast love for us; Praise Jesus that He died for us so that we might have a relationship with God; Praise the Holy Spirit for His reminders of Jesus’s words and His guiding hand in our lives
  • Spend time asking God for reminders of His presence with you throughout this week. Pray that God would be actively moving us to rest in Him and trust in His grace and promises this week.
