Vacation Bible School 2014

Vacation Bible School was held Tuesday, July 15 through Friday July 18 at the R.W. Black Community Center in Hanover. The theme this year was “Amazing Grace Adventures.” Eighty-seven children from pre-kindergarten to 5th grade participated in the week’s events. Over forty adults, Dartmouth students, and teen helpers, taught classes, served snacks, organized recreation activities, assisted with crafts, and shared God’s love for us with the children.

Each day began and ended with a group program including skits and singing. Our theme, “Amazing Grace Adventures,” used stories of Jesus around the sea of Galilee. Each class learned ways that by grace through faith, Jesus calls us, teaches us, keeps us safe, saves us, and provides all we need now and forever. The crafts that were created strengthened the curriculum for that day, and games were played both inside and outside.

Here are a few kid reflections from the week:
“I liked everything !!!! I enjoyed the bible lessons and being able to act them out. I enjoyed singing the songs and the fun crafts. I learned that Jesus is always with me and he lives within my heart.”

~Sophie

“I learned a memory verse that I still remember. It talked about how we should not be afraid because Jesus is taking care of us.”

~Eleia

“The best part about VBS was when we had the slide show on Friday and I could see all the fun things we did during the week. We learned about Jesus in and around the Sea of Galilee. We need to anchor our faith to Jesus.”

~Toby

“My favorite part was the crafts. I especially liked making the giant fish because it was cool to see everyone’s different designs. I had fun being with my friends and making new ones.”

~Charis
Friday’s closing program ended with a parent tea and slideshow of scenes from the week. You can view some of the photos from the week below. A big thank you to everyone who made VBS such a wonderful and memorable week!
